Join us for an exhilarating, non-competitive, self-supported long-distance cycling challenge that celebrates the beauty of Negros Oriental and the spirit of adventure!
Event Type: Non-competitive, self-supported long-distance cycling challenge.
Mission: To inspire and empower cyclists by offering a self-supported adventure that celebrates long-distance riding, community, and the beauty of Negros Oriental.
Goals:
1. Promote the thrill and accomplishment of unsupported long-distance cycling.
2. Cultivate a supportive community for cyclists of all skill levels who enjoy pushing their boundaries.
3. Showcase Negros Oriental as a premier cycling destination in the Philippines.
4. Raise awareness of cycling as a clean and efficient mode of transportation.
Event Format:
1. Non-Competitive: This is not a race. Participants set their own pace and focus on enjoying the journey.
2. Self-Supported: Cyclists carry all their own supplies, equipment, and tools. Resourcefulness and self-reliance are key.
3. Your Pace, Your Style: Choose your preferred speed and riding style to personalize the experience.
4. Control Points: The route will have designated checkpoints with cut-off times to ensure safety and progress. Participants must reach each control point before the cut-off time to continue.
Routes:
- Sikad 200: Must finish within an elapsed time of 14 hours. (Dumaguete to Bayawan, Checkpoint: Bayawan Plaza)
- Sikad 100: Must finish within an elapsed time of 7 hours. (Dumaguete to Siaton, Checkpoint: Siaton Plaza)
- Sikad 50: Must finish within an elapsed time of 4 hours. (Dumaguete to Zamboanguita, Checkpoint: Arbo Gas Station)
Recognition for All:
Every participant who completes the entire route within the allotted time will be acknowledged for their achievement.
Who Should Join:
1. Experienced cyclists comfortable with long-distance riding and self-sufficiency.
2. Cyclists seeking a personal challenge and a unique cycling adventure.
3. Individuals who enjoy pushing their limits and exploring their capabilities.
4. Group Riding: While not a team event, finding riding companions with a similar pace and style is encouraged to enhance the experience and safety.
Ride Guidelines:
1. Safety First: All bikes must be in good working condition, and helmets are mandatory during the entire ride.
2. Be Seen, Be Safe: Rear lights are required for all distances. Front lights are mandatory for rides exceeding 200km.
3. Enhanced Visibility: Reflective jackets and reflectors are highly recommended for low-light conditions.
4. Physical Fitness: Participants must be in good physical condition to ensure their safety and avoid impacting the group.
5. Respect the Route: Follow the designated route. Cutting or deviating will invalidate your ride (unless organizers provide alternate routes).
6. Checkpoint Navigation: Each participant will receive a checkpoint card during registration. Get it stamped at each control point as proof of passage.
7. Finishing Touches: The checkpoint card must be dropped at the finish line. Sign the card to acknowledge timestamps. Missing stamps will invalidate your ride.
8. Time Verification: Finish times are based on stamped timestamps on your checkpoint card. Ensure all control points are stamped.
9. Courtesy on the Road: Ride in an organized group, never more than two abreast. Overtake others safely and with good judgment.
10. Respectful Cycling: Always prioritize the safety and well-being of fellow riders and other road users.
11. Your Pace, Your Choice: Complete the ride within the stipulated time at your preferred pace, unless otherwise instructed.
12. Environmental Responsibility: Dispose of waste responsibly. Trash bins will be available at each control point.
Schedule of Events:
- August 31, 2024 (Saturday) 2pm-6pm: Pre-Ride Check-In
- September 1, 2024 (Sunday) 4am onwards: Release of Cyclists
- September (TBD): Homologated results published on the website/Sikad Dumaguete Page
